These clay idols were prepared with seeds of 21 varieties of medicinal plants and after the celebrations, the idols can be immersed in a pot or garden. Besides, the idols which are made with plaster of paris are harmful to environment and water resources, “The idols made of plaster of paris contain metals like gypsum, sulphur, phosphorous, magnesium and artificial colors contain mercury, lead, cadmium and carbon,” said PMV secretary J Rajeswari.
