The festival will take place in Slavonski Brod between April 7th and 13th, and more information will be available soon. The narrative journey “Into the world of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić’s fairy tales” begins on Saturday, April 6, at the Kaptol Boutique Cinema in Zagreb, where animated films based on the works of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić will be shown. This year’s edition of the event, which introduces visitors to the world of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić’s fairy tales, will be richer and more modern than ever. Namely, this is a project that is held every year in Slavonski Brod, where the writer wrote some of the most famous works. The initiator and sponsor of the event, the City of Slavonski Brod, this year is collaborating with world-famous artist Helena Bulaja Madunić, Entertainment Laboratory and Croatian Railways, which will provide children and parents with a unique experience of riding the “Train from antiquity”. On Sunday, April 7, in the train, which departs from Zagreb to Slavonski Brod, there will be a program of interactive chat rooms and creative workshops, and they will jointly create and tell stories live with top entertainment artists. Storytellers, actors, musicians, illustrators, animators and cameramen will be in charge of the entertainment on the train. The “captain” of the crew will be Helena Bulaja Madunić, who has been promoting our heritage with her innovative interpretations for 25 years around the world, from Zagreb, through New York, Madrid, Tokyo, to New Zealand. “I am immensely proud that this year we have significantly modernized and enlivened the world of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić’s fairy tales, making the program even richer and more diverse, which will surely attract even more visitors from all over Croatia.”, Said Mirko Duspara, Mayor of Slavonski Brod. When the train arrives in Slavonski Brod, visitors will be greeted by a “Picnic from the past”, numerous creative workshops and a concert by the Zagreb ethno band Balkalar, which will evoke a nostalgic atmosphere with its performances of old ethno music.
