A new company that will offer specialized services to the oil and gas and liquified natural gas (LNG) sectors is establishing its North American headquarters in Halifax, Energy Minister Bill Dooks announced today, May 2. The new firm, Parker Kaefer, was created when Parker Brothers Contracting Limited of Halifax joined forces with German multinational Kaefer Group. “These are quality companies and they have a reputation of dealing with the best,” Mr. Dooks said at the Offshore Technologies Conference (OTC ’06) in Houston, Texas. “I think their joint decision to establish their base in Nova Scotia speaks volumes about the quality of our workers and the level of competence in our energy sector.” The company’s initial focus will be on construction of LNG receiving terminals. “Both companies have a strong tradition of excellence, and we are proud to join together to provide the oil and gas sector with enhanced service during both construction and maintenance phases,” said Malcolm Giffin, president and CEO of Parker Brothers Contracting Limited Group. “When we combine our regional knowledge and presence with Kaefer’s international LNG and North Sea experience, the outcome will be superior products and services for our clients.” The company will also provide a full spectrum of technology and services related to the oil, gas and nuclear energy industries, including insulation and cladding, surface protection for offshore rigs and installations and access management and design and engineering services.
